Klopp's mind is blown by Neymar transfer

Klopp's mind is blown by Neymar transfer”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes Neymar's world record move to Paris Saint-Germain should serve as a warning to Barcelona that Lionel Messi's release clause can also be triggered in the future.

Neymar signed for PSG for 222 million Euros which is a record fee after months of speculation.

While a 300 million euro sum seems outlandish, Klopp feels that the post Neymar transfer market is different.

"It's pretty simple. Until now it was simply seen as impossible", Klopp told DAZN, as quoted on FourFourTwo.

"Then there is the list, with the release-clauses for Barcelona". That used to be an outrageous amount.

Klopp also questioned the ethics around Neymar's transfer fee, and believes that perhaps Federation Internationale de Football Association need to intervene to keep control of the insane spending. However it is now up to tax authorities to decide whether they accept the amount that Neymar's defense team has calculated that he owes. I mean who would pay €300m? "No coach would demand such a thing".

The president of Barcelona Josep Maria Bartomeu has called into question the character of Neymar who made a decision to leave the club for PSG this summer. A simple solution would be a rule.

"The accusations (against us) were at times hasty, at other times they went against us, but it left a mark on his image and as you know Neymar lives off his image", said lawyer Gustavo Xisto.

A precedent appears to have been set with the move, with European football's elite clubs now wary of having their prized assets taken from under their nose. "This is a topic now since it happened for the first time".
