Reporter's attorney slams Eric Bolling in blunt response to lawsuit”

Freelance journalist Yashar Ali is fighting back against a $50 million defamation lawsuit filed by recently suspended Fox News host Eric Bolling - and he has powerhouse litigator Patty Glaser in his corner.

Bolling was suspended last week after Ali's article was published and Fox representatives said the network is investigating the matter.

Ali shared the letter on Twitter and expressed his pleasure with his choice of attorney.

Because Bolling's summons doesn't specify which false statements he's suing over, Glaser, like many observers in the media, assumed it was sent in response to Ali's August 4 HuffPost story that alleged the host sent "an unsolicited photo of male genitalia" via text message to multiple colleagues.

My lawyer just sent this letter to Eric Bolling's lawyer. "Mr. Bolling's recollection and belief hardly constitute a denial of the accusations made against him", Glaser says in the letter.

Glaser called the summons "frivolous" because it "asserts material factual statements that are false" and was "filed to harass or maliciously injure" Ali. "Already, Mr. Bolling's suit has tarnished Mr. Ali's reputation and incited Mr. Bolling's supporters to post racist tirades against Mr. Ali on his Facebook Page".

"Yashar Ali is a careful and meticulous reporter".

It's also significant that Bolling's summons targeted Ali as an individual, not HuffPost. Partner Marc Kasowitz, who has a long-standing professional relationship with Donald Trump, was retained by the president to represent him in the Russian Federation investigation; he is no longer leading that legal team.

Ali tweeted the letter on Friday afternoon. Marc E. Kasowitz, one of the firm's partners, is a longtime personal lawyer for President Trump who has also represented Bill O'Reilly, the former Fox News host who was ousted in April amid allegations of sexual harassment. "No evidence has been produced about these claims, and that is why we filed suit so that the evidence and truth will come out".

"We welcome the opportunity to depose Mr. Bolling and review his message history, as we presume that you have instructed him to preserve communications", Glaser wrote.

"This anonymously sourced and uncorroborated story is false, defamatory and obviously meant to destroy this good man's career and family", Mr. Bolling's lawyer, Michael J. Bowe, said at the time.
