Venkaiah Naidu sworn in as Vice-President”

The Vice-President elect Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu took oath as the next Vice-President of India on Friday at Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan at 10 am.

A number of ministers congratulated M. Venkaiah Naidu, after he was sworn in as the 13th Vice-President of India today.

He said, "With his experience, he will add great value to the office of the Vice-President in India and the chairman of the Rajya Sabha".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior BJP leader L.K. Advani and other Cabinet Ministers were present on the occasion. Opposition candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi polled 244 votes.

Earlier, Naidu paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. He also paid tributes to Jan Sangh leader Deendayal Upadhyaya, besides Sardar Vallabhai Patel and Babasaheb BR Ambedkar. The polling percentage was high. He did Bachelor's in politics and diplomatic studies from V R College, Nellore.

Naidu is a two-time Union minister and four-time Rajya Sabha member.
