Wozniacki ends Stephens' Toronto run, roars into final”

Caroline Wozniacki moved into her sixth final of the year by beating Sloane Stephens 6-2 6-3 in the Rogers Cup on Saturday.

The No.6-seeded Dane broke six times on nine opportunities and won half of her first-serve return points (17 lf 34) as well as 13 of 17 second-serve return points to cause problems for Stephens all day.

In her last match, Wozniacki survived a grueling three sets and three rain delays to record her first ever win over a World No.1 against Karolina Pliskova.

All of the delays came in the first set and Wozniacki seemed to gain encouragement as she bounced back from 3-0 down.

Defending champion Simona Halep takes on Ukraine's Elena Svitolina in the second semi-final later on Saturday. Halep, the No. 2 seed, beat Caroline Garcia 6-4, 6-2 while Svitolina, the No. 5 seed, topped fourth-seeded Garbine Muguruza 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. They now face the daunting task of having to play their semi-final later in the day.

"I'll be playing against a very good opponent. I just want to give my best, enjoy the match, and try to fight", Halep said.
