David Tennant Returning For Jessica Jones Season Two

David Tennant Returning For Jessica Jones Season Two”

Spoiler alert for those who have yet to watch Jessica Jones' stellar first season, but the hero, played to perfection by Krysten Ritter, finally stamped out her nemesis Kilgrave in the season one finale.

It's unknown exactly how Kilgrave will be back given the ending of the first season. To her dismay, she soon discovers that he's alive and well, and on the hunt for her. As the central villain of the first season, Kilgrave left an indelible mark on Jessica and the fandom. The fallout from Kilgrave as well as her hard childhood is ongoing, so it's probably to be expected that flashbacks will be part of the show again in Season 2.

Marvel has a history of bringing back once-dead characters from the grave, often nullifying the emotional impact of their deaths.

But this is superhero storytelling, and even though Marvel's Netflix series tend to skew to a more realistic approach to the genre than their big screen cousins, there are any number of tropes Jessica Jones can utilize to resurrect its main bad guy. There's no downplaying the importance that Jessica was able to confront and kill her rapist in a season that heavily dealt with sexual assault and agency.

The news that Kilgrave is returning is worrisome, not just for Jessica, but also for the series.

Netflix confirmed that the actor, who recently lent his voice to the "DuckTales" reboot and is best known for playing heroes on screen rather than villains, will be returning in some form to the show in its second season.

Marvel's Jessica Jones is set to return to Netflix in early 2018.
