Trump feels North Korea's threats would boost Guam's tourism

Trump feels North Korea's threats would boost Guam's tourism”

Rep. David Cicilline (sihs-ihl-EE'-nee) of Rhode Island, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, says that in light of President Donald Trump's "reckless words" threatening North Korea, the House should immediately take up legislation barring a pre-emptive nuclear strike without prior congressional authorization.

If North Korea does launch a missile strike, there is a public warning system in place and a 14-minute window to react, Guam Homeland Security said.

Guam is prepared and its residents feel well-protected should North Korea launch an attack on the US territory.

North Korea's Minju Joson newspaper, meanwhile, lashed back at the U.S.in an editorial Saturday.

But DFA assured that the situation in the said countries remains normal and there is nothing to worry about as regards the safety of the Filipinos.

In a statement Saturday, Macron said the situation "undermines the preservation of worldwide peace" and the North Korean regime "poses a serious threat to the security of its neighbors". The projectiles will travel over Japan's Shimane, Hiroshima and Kochi prefectures.

South Korea urged North Korea on Thursday to stop all action that drives up tension on the Korean peninsula, but China, Pyongyang's major ally, has been keeping a low profile since the latest crisis erupted.

"Fight tonight" has long been the motto of USA forces in South Korea to show they're always ready for combat on the Korean Peninsula.

The US island territory's Office of Civil Defence began distributing fact sheets, Preparing for an Imminent Missile Threat, on Friday, to help people prepare for an attack.

The safer alternative: diplomacy: "The pressure campaign is working".

"I think escalating the rhetoric is the wrong answer", Merkel added.

Guamanians have served in all major US wars since World War II and see military service as a source of pride.

Experts in South Korea said the plans unveiled by the reclusive North ratcheted up risks significantly, since Washington was likely to view any missile aimed at its territory as a provocation, even if launched as a test. If Kim Jong Un said he would hit Anchorage, would he say, "Go ahead hit Anchorage and see what happens?"

"Everyone should continue to live their lives", Calvo said.
