USA reclaim 4x100m world title, Britain take silver

USA reclaim 4x100m world title, Britain take silver”

The hope of millions of fans around the world were broken on seeing the sight of the greatest ever sprinter of all time falling down.

Allyson Felix won her 16th world career medal on Sunday, producing as she has on some many occasions before a blistering run to help the United States to gold in the 4x400m relay.

Allyson Felix's second leg of the race helped the US women gain ground, while 100-meter world champion Tori Bowie clinched the victory on a strong anchor leg.

Felix's gold in the shorter relay on Saturday saw her overtake Jamaicans Merlene Ottey and Usain Bolt as the record world medal holder.

Felix also won gold in the 4x100 relay on Saturday.

Another piece of sad news for his fans is that Allyson Felix broke his record and became the athlete with the highest number of medals in the history of the competition.

Aaliyah Brown and Morolake Akinosun rounded out the winning team.

The 31-year-old also won a bronze in the 400m and of her 16 world medals, 11 have been gold, while nine in total were won as part of the United States relay team and seven individually.

Jamaica finished in joint 16th place with the Netherlands on the medal table with four medals, comprising one gold and three bronze.

Great Britain took silver in 42.12 seconds with Jamaica third in 42.19 seconds.

Bolt's cramped leg in the men's 4x100 m relay later in the evening ensured that Felix sits at the top of the tally.
