Chris Froome has 'unfinished business' ahead of Vuelta a Espana

Chris Froome has 'unfinished business' ahead of Vuelta a Espana”

Chris Froome will bid for consecutive grand tour wins as he leads Team Sky at the Vuelta a Espana.

Uran also finished second twice on the Giro d'Italia in 2013 and 2014, although struggled to a seventh-placed effort on his Grand Tour debut for Cannondale in the same race past year.

"With nine mountain top finishes it's heavily weighted for the climbers but, with an individual time trial of over 40 kilometres, there could be minutes won or lost there as well", Froome said.

Froome is aiming to emulate Jacques Anquetil and Bernard Hinault in completing the Tour-Vuelta double, but he knows that the race will be gruelling.

No rider has managed to win both races since the Vuelta switched from the first grand tour of the season to the last in 1995.

" I don't think we've been to the Vuelta a Espana with a team as strong as we've got this year."

"I love the military, hot dogs and football, but I don't love segregation, I don't love riots" - NFL star Michael Bennett, who sat for the national anthem before a pre-season game.

He also finished second to Alberto Contador in 2014 and to Nairo Quintana in 2016, following his third Tour de France success. Being mid-August in Spain, it's quite common to have temperatures up in the mid 40s. You have this mixture of riders who have targeted the Vuelta specifically, and others who are coming off a big season already.

In 2011 Froome finished just 13 seconds behind Juan Jose Cobo after spending much of the race working for Team Sky colleague and British compatriot Bradley Wiggins.

There Sky lineup is completed by Mikel Nieve, Diego Rosa, David Lopez, Gianni Moscon, Salvatore Puccio, Ian Stannard and Christian Knees.

Team principal Sir Dave Brailsford said that the team are fully behind Froome in his quest to make history.
