Johnny Depp's Production Company to Produce TSW Series

Johnny Depp's Production Company to Produce TSW Series”

The Secret World TV series will focus on a team of undercover agents as they deal with a shadow war between the secret societies of the Illuminati, the Dragon, and the Templar plus battle. Central to the plot of the series is also the war against the supernatural Giddings have partnered together to produce a television series based off the MMO, The Secret World. The show will be written by James and Jake Hart and CSI:NY veteran Pam Veasey will be the "showrunner", or the person with overall creative authority and management of the program. The goal of each is to battle supernatural creatures across the world and through multiple dimensions where they will confront ancient myths and legends.

Rui Casais, CEO of Funcom who created the game, first published in 2012 told the site, "The Secret World universe is full of stories just waiting to be told".

Along with Veasey, Johnny Depp and Gudrun Giddings will produce alongside Infinitum Nihil's Christi Dembrowski and Sam Sarkar. He spoke enthusiastically of the "fantastical storylines" and "intriguing characters" possible in a Secret World TV series, with Sarkar adding enigmatically, "This is the secret story of the people who rule the people who rule the world".

Gudrun Giddings optioned the media rights for the property back in 2012 and has been working on developer a show for quite some time.

Do you think this will make for a good TV show? The story elements remain the same, but the game moved towards a smaller player count instead of massively multiplayer, more action, and a free-to-play economy. I live for conspiracy theory.

The move follows the surge in players that Funcom experienced following the recent reboot of The Secret World into new online RPG Secret World Legends in June 2017.
