Bomb hoax at Delhi High Court”

The Delhi High Court on Thursday morning was put on high alert following a bomb threat received by security officials.

A bomb squad and fire tenders reached the spot. The call was made from North East Delhi and the caller's phone is registered from Western Uttar Pradesh. After three hours, the call was declared a hoax. The call has been traced to a number in Western Uttar Pradesh and the police are now trying to trace the person. However, the call was found to be a hoax, they said.

The call was received by the control room around 11 am from a man who claimed to have planted bombs inside the court complex, police said. Notably, the state was on high alert all these days for the celebrations of the Independence Day.

There is news of the bomb blasts in the Delhi High Court.

According to an India Today report of September 7, 2011, the bomb was placed in a briefcase and ripped through a crowded reception area at the entrance of the Delhi High Court. The blast killed 17 persons and injured over 76. A day later another email was sent out, this time in the name of the Indian Mujahideen claiming responsibility for the attack.
