Jaguars fans are already booing Blake Bortles' embarrassing throws”

Bortles' numbers in Thursday's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers weren't awful.

Nothing can absolve an National Football League starting quarterback from throws like that.

The second play drew boos from the hometown Jacksonville crowd. The Buccaneers' quarterback completed 21 of 29 passes for 196 yards, and three of his eight incompletions reached his receivers' hands.

The Jaguars did not bring in any quarterbacks in the offseason to compete with Bortles and instead planned on building the offense around the run game, which is why the team drafted Leonard Fournette fourth overall.

The Jaguars return to practice Saturday and who knows if it will be Bortles or Henne at QB1.

Thursday was also a much better performance for the starting defense.

The Jaguars open at Houston on September 10 and it will be Bortles' third opening-day start or Henne's fourth of his nine-year career.

Bortles' four drives ended in punts and there was some ugliness. Folk is now 2-for-2 on field goals tonight after his first extra point attempt being blocked.

Neither quarterback was helped by the running game, which gained 19 yards on 13 carries through three quarters. He threw 8 yards to Robinson to set up a third-and-3.

Henne threw two passes in his one drive in the first half, both of which were dropped in the end zone by Keelan Cole and Allen Robinson.

Bortles took Robinson's advice and kept the ball in bounds. Henne didn't do anything on the field to distinguish himself, but it's important to note that the Jaguars left their first-team offensive line and receivers in the game when Henne entered late in the first half, and left them in with Henne fairly deep into the second half. On his first play, Henne threw a dart toward Cole, who dropped it. He completed a four-yard pass to rookie fullback Marquez Williams for a touchdown on his first series. The drive stalled at the Tampa Bay 45 with a sack. Myers' point after missed wide right to keep the Buccaneers' lead at six. A 30-yard pass from Allen to Westbrook took the Jaguars to the Buccaneers 35. Allen's last-play pass into the end zone from the Buccaneers 33 was incomplete.

Four years removed from his days as a first-team All-SEC and first team All-American wide receiver for Texas A&M, Mike Evans has quickly worked and performed his way into one of the NFL's top receivers. Quarterback Jameis Winston was 5-of-6 passing, including two third-down conversions.

It felt like Tampa Bay was leading 112-0. Jacksonville trailed 12-0 at halftime. Tampa Bay outgained the Jaguars 240-59 in the first half.
