North Korea hints at stronger missiles in photos”

The ban, effective immediately, came as Pyongyang launched three short-range missiles on Saturday according to the USA military, reviving tensions days after President Donald Trump said the isolated regime was starting to show Washington some "respect".

As tensions increased this month, Kim's regime warned that it was considering launching missiles into the Pacific Ocean near the US territory of Guam, prompting Trump's warning that the USA military was "locked and loaded" and ready to retaliate.

Also on Tuesday, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson praised Pyongyang for demonstrating "some level of restraint", noting that there had been "no missile launches or provocative acts on the part of North Korea", since the United Nations Security Council voted August 5 to impose a $1 billion sanctions package against the country.

South Korea's presidential office says North Korea has likely tested its 300-millimeter artillery rocket system in the latest launch detected off its eastern coast. In July, it launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, which North Korea claims could reach "anywhere in the world".

They come during a joint military exercise between the US and South Korea.

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said the missiles did not reach its territory or exclusive economic zone and did not pose a threat to Japan's safety.

Hours later North Korea had said it was "carefully examining" plans to strike Guam.

This week he visited the Chemical Material Institute of North Korea's Academy of Defense Sciences and inspected designs for two new longer-range missiles, according to state media reports. The North routinely says it will never give up its weapons programmes, saying they are necessary to counter perceived United States hostility.

US President Donald Trump later said North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was "starting to respect us".

This echoed an earlier remark from Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that "Pyongyang has certainly demonstrated some level of restraint that we've not seen in the past".

"We are looking forward to that dialogue with your National Assembly members, and we appreciate the strong interparliamentary exchange we've had over the years between Korea and the U.S. They have been very helpful for us to understand so many issues", he added.

Tensions between Washington and Pyongyang escalated after North Korea's two ICBM tests.

Trump also expressed optimism earlier this week about a possible improvement in relations.
