Croatia beat Kosovo 1-0 in prolonged qualifier

Croatia beat Kosovo 1-0 in prolonged qualifier”

The match was suspended after 22 minutes of play on Saturday following a downpour that left the Maksimir Stadium pitch unplayable.

It was Vida's first worldwide goal for four years.

Luka Modric claimed Federation Internationale de Football Association "showed they don't care about players" after Croatia beat Kosovo 1-0 in World Cup qualifying, in a fixture played over two days.

Cheered on by 7,000 spectators at Maksimir Stadium on a cloudy but dry Sunday afternoon, the Croatian team tried to score as soon as possible but all their efforts ended up missing the target or in the hands of Kosovo custodian and captain Samir Ujkani.

The victory sees Croatia usurp Ukraine at the top of Group I, while their near-neighbours Kosovo remain bottom. If they did care, they would have postponed the Turkey - Croatia game to Wednesday.

The Group I encounter in Zagreb had been called off due to heavy rain and a waterlogged pitch, and resumed in the 21st minute on Sunday at 1230 GMT.

Ukraine jumped up from fourth to first thanks to a 2-0 home win over Turkey as new Borussia Dortmund winger Andriy Yarmolenko scored a brace.

And Iceland suffered a disappointing night as they had Rurik Gislason sent off in their 1-0 defeat to Finland, Alexander Ring netting the only goal.

In the World Cup Qualifying UEFA of Group I the teams Croatia and Kosovo are facing against each other today.
