Air Force Day being celebrated today

Air Force Day being celebrated today”

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that 7th of September is a historic day in the history of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) when the courageous eagles of Pakistan had written great stories of bravery, courage and valor and failed the aerial attacks of the enemy with their befitting replies. PAF also played a tremendous role in 1965 war when India attacked Pakistan on September 6.

The day began with special prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, followed by change of guard ceremonies at the mausoleums of Allama Iqbal in Lahore and Quaid-i-Azam in Karachi, and a ceremony at the Pakistan Navy headquarters in Islamabad.

Pakistan Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa said: "The enemy would run out of bullets but we will never be short of jawans taking bullets on their chests".

Pakistan's Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir rejected the BRICS declaration yesterday, saying his country has taken action against all terror groups and "only the remnants of some are left". The highlight of the day will be a function tonight at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to pay tribute to the martyrs.

Special ceremonies are being held at all bases of Pakistan Air Force to pay homage to the martyrs who laid their lives while protecting the country from enemy.

Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain said today that the armed forces were "successfully" eliminating terrorism from the country, amid mounting global pressure on Islamabad to deny safe havens to terrorists.

He said Pakistan is on the path to economic development and counterterrorism operations carried out by the Pakistan Army have broken the backbone of terrorists, Radio Pakistan reported.
