Australia 377 all out in 2nd Bangladesh Test

Australia 377 all out in 2nd Bangladesh Test”

Bangladesh took the new ball as soon as it was available and Mustafizur Rahman almost tasted immediate success when he induced a lazy drive from Glenn Maxwell but Mehidy Hasan spilled the catch at gully.

His current wickets tally of 19 is the highest by an Australian bowler in a two-match series, with the possibility of more to come in the afternoon.

The hosts led by just 11 runs in their second innings with skipper Mushfiqur Rahim not out 16 and Sabbir Rahman not out 20 on a deteriorating pitch.

David Warner hit his second hundred in a row before Bangladesh fought back with quick strikes on a rain-hit third day of the second Test against Australia on Wednesday.

Lyon, who had claimed 7-94 in the first innings, then seized the game by the scruff of the neck. Nathan Lyon was yet to open his account at the other end.

Australia's only paceman, Pat Cummins, drew first blood after getting Soumya Sarkar for nine, caught at first slip by Matt Renshaw after edging a fuller delivery. Tamim Iqbal seemed intent on taking the attack to Lyon, but misjudged his opponent's flight, dip and spin to find himself stranded down the wicket as the ball turned past him.

This was Warner´s 20th Test century and second in successive innings, having made 112 in the first match. Imrul Kayes and Tamim Iqbal then added 21, but Lyon removed both of them to make the hosts' job hard.

Warner took as many as 234 balls for his ton, which was his slowest in Test cricket.

Left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe dismissed Nasir Hossain for five in identical manner and by the time Bangladesh had erased the deficit, the top half of their batting order was sitting in the dressing room.

At that point Bangladesh were 43 for five and still 29 runs in deficit. Tensions were high between both sides, leading the umpire Ian Gould to counsel Mushfiqur to cool down in the final over of a hectic morning.
