Local colleges close down for Hurricane Irma

Local colleges close down for Hurricane Irma”

The school described the move as resulting from "an abundance of caution".

Originally scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, it will instead be played on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET. "With travel considerations, we had to make that decision today".

They note that the safety of students, faculty and staff is the top priority at Armstrong.

The new kickoff time will have a few implications for UCF. The game will be televised on ESPNEWS.

UCF and the American Athletic Conference will announce TV coverage plans at a later time. Memphis' game was at home and came in the remnants of Hurricane Harvey.

ESPNU will still carry the game despite the schedule change.

Based on the National Hurricane Center's latest projection for Hurricane Irma, Armstrong State University's main campus in Savannah and the Armstrong Liberty Center in Hinesville will close on Thursday, September 7 at 5 p.m.

Bethune- Cookman University is issuing an emergency evacuation for Tuesday afternoon. That said, it's probably wise that UCF is not taking any chances.
