McDonald's to bring bottled McCafe drinks to store shelves

McDonald's to bring bottled McCafe drinks to store shelves”

The fast-food mega-chain plans to release grab-and-go espresso-based drinks like lattes and frappés available in three flavors - vanilla, caramel, and mocha.

If you like some variety in the morning, you can mix it up even more by also picking up something from the company's line of whole bean, ground and single-serve coffee now available nationally in retail stores.

The expanded retail presence is part of McDonald's broader McCafe platform relaunch, which includes a refreshed look, new logo and packaging and new espresso beverages in its restaurants. It's not a slam dunk market for everyone, but McDonald's didn't fall off the turnip truck when it comes to working with their brand and they've been enjoying an impressive run of success and experimentation lately, so it'd be silly to bet against their chances in the bottled coffee drink game. While Starbucks or Dunkin' may be better known for their coffee, McDonald's has a loyal following of its own, particularly among older generations of seniors and boomers who grew up alongside the fast food chain.

"Our new McCafé beverages start with 100 percent Arabica beans that are freshly ground and skillfully made on demand", Chef Dan Coudreaut, McDonald's US vice president of culinary innovation said in a statement. The drinks, along with all McCafé specialty beverages, will be available for $2 for a limited time. Meanwhile, the new bottled frappes are expected to hit retailers nationwide in 2018.
