Summary: A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 45-year-old peon of her school in Gandhi Nagar on Saturday afternoon. The girl was then taken to a nearby hospital by the parents where her medical examination was conducted and police were informed. The parents hospitalised her - her condition was stable at night - and informed police, who immediately rounded up staffers of the school and questioned them individually. DCP (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad confirmed the development.

On the basis of the description, Vikas was nabbed, the police said.

A senior officer of Shahdara district said the girl's parents have filed a written complaint. "The accused had been working at the school for three years".

The girl returned home in a very critical condition and told her mother about the horrific incident.

Traumatised by the incident, the girl was sent for counselling.

Police said the alleged incident took place when the girl was going to the bathroom.

According to the police, during her conselling the child said she was assaulted by "a man wearing a cap" and also described his physical attributes.

The victim who is a Class I student at the Tagore Public School told that a peon identified as Vikas allegedly raped her inside the school premises. The Delhi police are in the process of registered a case and it's believed the accused works as a peon at the school. "Police are trying to ascertain if any other student was targeted in the past", the officer said.
