Kim Jong-un calls North Korean n-test 'great victory

Kim Jong-un calls North Korean n-test 'great victory”

On September 3, the North Korean army carried out its sixth and most powerful nuclear test with a hydrogen bomb that triggered widespread condemnation by the worldwide community and has further elevated tensions in the region.

"They busied themselves. making preposterous remarks like 'the nuclear missile of North Korea are military means that can strike Europe, '" Ri pointed out.

North Korea had said the latest test was an advanced hydrogen bomb.

Three scientists, most likely nuclear experts, were seen as standing next to the peanut-shaped weapon that had "Hydrogen Bomb" written on the outside.

Meanwhile, the U.S. called for a UN Security Council meeting on Monday to vote on a resolution on "additional sanctions" against North Korea for its latest nuclear test.

"We will not take even a step back from the road of our option but keep bolstering the nuclear deterrence for self-defense to defend our government and people from the USA nuclear war threat", Choe said.

The South Korean government said earlier that the North might potentially mark the 69th anniversary of its founding with its third test of a developmental intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

"If nuclear weapons are such bad things, then France should first give up its nuclear weapons since it is not under anyone's nuclear threat".

Photos released on Sunday by KCNA showed the young leader breaking into a broad smile at the People's Theatre with two prominent scientists: Ri Hong Sop, head of North Korea's Nuclear Weapons Institute, and Hong Sung Mu, deputy director of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea's munitions industry department.

He also called for unity in the UN Security Council, which is set to consider a new draft resolution presented by Washington in recent days that would be the toughest-ever imposed on North Korea.

Separately on Saturday, Macron discussed increased pressure and sanctions on North Korea during separate telephone conversations with US President Donald Trump and Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the French president's office said.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have also heightened over the nuclear tests.

South Korea is among the countries that have voiced strong criticism of the North's sixth nuclear test.

But North Korea's leader appeared deaf to the global outrage and hailed the "perfect success in the test of H-bomb" at a dinner to congratulate the scientists and technicians behind the nuclear programme, the official Korean Central News Agency reported.
