Baby Named Storm Born as Hurricane Irma Approaches Miami

Baby Named Storm Born as Hurricane Irma Approaches Miami”

The fearless new mum gave birth to a healthy baby girl as Irma grounded emergency services across Miami.

"Welcome to the world baby Nayiri Storm!" the department posted on Facebook.

The Miami woman went into labor Sunday, but because the storm's winds were too strong, fire rescue teams couldn't get to her right away, according to the Miami Herald.

Emergency services were later able to reach the mum and she has been taken to hospital with her little girl.

By the time the new mother and her baby were released from the hospital on Saturday, the area was already starting to see the effects of Hurricane Irma with heavy rain bands passing over the city and wind gusts over 30 miles per hour.

On Saturday, the new mother was released from the hospital, and Miami-Dade police escorted the Keslings and Nayiri to a hotel, where they're waiting out the storm.

A Key West woman was forced to deliver her baby while trying to flee from Hurricane Irma as it battered the Florida coast.

Crews were able to respond to only four calls overnight.

"Then she also gave birth to the placenta". Dispatch told her how to tie it off. "It is stable to the house", he said to the Miami Herald.
