BlackBerry PRIV won't get Android Nougat”

The smartphones were meant to be an experiment on how the collaboration between BlackBerry and TCL would go ahead. It was the first Android phone from BlackBerry, it was a flagship device with a physical keyboard, and it was the last phone manufactured in-house by BlackBerry.

UTB Blogs celebrated its 100th blogcast by hosting the General Manager of BlackBerry Mobility Solutions, Alex Thurber as a guest.

Further, Thurber did not clarify whether other DTEK smartphones including DTEK 50 and DTEK 60 will receive future OS updates or not. However, he noted that was a massive undertaking which required getting the device partners on board and that it will be next to impossible to repeat for updates to Android 7.0 Nougat and beyond. However, Thurber says that the smartphone will receive security updates from BlackBerry along with other DTEK smartphones.
