Fearless reporter illustrates the monstrous power of Hurricane Irma's winds

Fearless reporter illustrates the monstrous power of Hurricane Irma's winds”

A storm chaser jeopardized his life when he stepped out of his auto and stood against the hurricane winds to measure its speed.

In a video that has gone viral today, meteorologist Juston Drake can be seen jumping out of a auto as the storm battered Saddlebunch Keys to use a handheld anemometer to measure the wind speed.

Wearing a ski mask, Drake holds in the air an anemometer to measure wind speed, as he struggles to stay on his feet.

Extreme weather journalists Simon Brewer and Juston Drake have been pictured online shunning safety advice to report from areas worst hit by the category 4 storm.

Cable news and YouTube feeds have been full of reporters braving insane winds for live shots this hurricane season, but the storm chasers behind the above video take even bigger risks, literally standing up to Hurricane Irma as it collided with the Florida Keys. Worryingly, both Brewer's and Drake's social media fans have been silent since the video was posted early Sunday. Its core was located about 35 miles (56 km) south of Naples.

More than 3.3 million homes and businesses across the USA state of Florida lost power as Hurricane Irma swept through it.
