Firewatch Developer No Longer Allowing PewDiePie To Stream Their Games

Firewatch Developer No Longer Allowing PewDiePie To Stream Their Games”

PewDiePie, real name Felix Kjellberg, dropped the "n-word" while playing the survival game "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds". In the video, he was unable to shoot an enemy, at which point he called the opposing player a "f--g n--r" (the words were not censored in the video, but you get the idea). Kjellberg said. "Jeez! Oh my god!" Vanaman explains that he loves streamers, stating that he watches them regularly and sends codes out to many of them to play his games, but that he will not tolerate language that normalizes racist rhetoric and that he will also be urging other developers to send DMCA filings to have videos of their games removed from PewDiePie's channel as well.

The world's highest paid YouTuber was quick to add: "I don't mean that in a bad way".

His recent use of controversial language however has led to many in the gaming community wondering when his time would come to an end, and why he continues to be so popular despite his past behaviouir.

YouTube star PewDiePie has faced backlash yet again

PewDiePie was the center of a controversy regarding perceived anti-semitic slurs after the Wall Street Journal alleged PewDiePie used anti-jewish terminology or made references to Hitler or Nazis on at least nine occasions, resulting in a brand deal with Disney being terminated and his YouTube Red series being cancelled. Although not directly tied to a single incident Firewatch developer Sean Vanaman then took to Twitter to announce that the studio would take action for any videos featuring its game. Furthermore, we're complicit: "I'm sure we've made money off of the 5.7M views that video has and that's something for us to think about".

Kjellberg's stream of "Firewatch", which Vanaman said had around 5.7 million views, has seemingly already been taken down. A request for comment was not immediately returned on Sunday.
