Former Presidents Are Joining Forces For A Good Cause”

Five living former United States presidents have joined forces to urge Americans to contribute to a fund that will be used to help those devastated by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana.

"The former presidents were inspired to come together to lend their support to the people and communities affected and to the first responders, organizations, volunteers, and neighbors who have been providing assistance to victims of Hurricane Harvey", the fundraising campaign said in a statement.

"Our friends in Texas, including Presidents Bush 41 (George H.W. Bush) and 43 (George W. Bush), are doing just that", said Jimmy Carter, who was the 39th president.

Donations designated to help victims of Harvey will be distributed to the Houston Harvey Relief Fund and the Rebuild Texas Fund.

The storm was a Category 5 when it hit multiple islands in the Caribbean, and it's expected to make landfall in Florida this weekend.

And now Harvey has done something else unprecedented.bringing together five former presidents to pitch a powerful appeal for help.

The elder Bush closes the video, "We love you Texas".

Harvey caused massive flooding in the Bushes' home state of Texas and neighboring Louisiana, destroying homes and killing dozens. Asked how he feels about Trump's recent strategy to work with Democrats - the President bucked his own party this week to attach emergency funds to a three-month increase in the debt ceiling - Bush said it depends on the motive.

President Trump tweeted his support for the initiative late Thursday night.

"President Trump has done a good job keeping, showing his concern for the victims of Harvey and I'm sure he'll do the same (for Irma)", the former two-term Florida governor said". Obama brought George W. Bush and Clinton to the White House Rose Garden to announce the Haiti relief effort, and Bush brought his father and Clinton to the Roosevelt Room to announce the tsunami appeal.
