President Hamid reaches Kazakhstan to attend OIC summit on science and technology”

President Hamid will highlight Bangladesh's success stories, initiatives and projects in science and technology and make recommendations to the OIC, according to Abedin.

He added: "(But) I would like to draw your kind attention to the need for protection of the Rohingya Muslims, deprived of all rights, including citizenship, and faced with existential threat at repeated atrocities and displacements".

The president said advancement of technology and innovation particularly in 21st century were rapidly transforming society bringing greater ease in work and communication, drastically reducing time and space barriers, and increasing speed and productivity.

"Disruptive innovations are leaving some behind and taking some ahead creating another division in the world", president Hamid observed.

The president is due back home on Sept 12.

The event is slated to give a new impetus to strengthening worldwide ties in development of science and innovations.

The participants will debate also research and technical dimensions in productivity.

He underlined the dedicated efforts exerted by OIC member states to invest in higher education and allocate a substantial proportion of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for research and development programmes.

During the Forum, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) will present its research into the best models of regulatory-legal framework and incentive mechanisms in the field of science, technologies and innovations in the OIC member and non-member countries.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Rouhani was in Astana on Saturday and Sunday to take part in the First OIC Summit on Science and Technology that opened in the Kazakh capital on Sunday.
