AMC develops series based on Black Lives Matter book”

The as-yet untitled project will reportedly use Lowrey's book as a springboard to reflect current events around race relations in America through various plots portrayed by fictional characters.

The series is in development, Deadline reports, and will be spurred along by Brad Weston and writer LaToya Morgan, who will executive produce. The book follows the history of "decades of racially biased policing in segregated neighborhoods with failing schools, crumbling infrastructure and too few jobs" and how that led to the police brutality cases in Ferguson, Cleveland, Baltimore and other locations. Released in 2016, They Can't Kill Us All is Lowery's reported accounts of the movement in various cities, starting with the Mike Brown killing in Ferguson in 2014, which sparked a new awakening on the depth of police brutality across the nation.

They Can't Kill Us All joins the growing development slate of Makeready's television division, headed by Nemes, which funds development and can deficit finance series, with Entertainment One handling worldwide distribution.

The show is being produced by Makeready, which has an impressive roster of upcoming projects, including work from producers like Leonardo DiCaprio and Chloë Grace Moretz.

Morgan is repped by Echo Lake Entertainment, CAA, and Rob Szymanski.
