BlackBerry Priv Will Not Get The Android Nougat Update

BlackBerry Priv Will Not Get The Android Nougat Update”

Thurber however mentioned that the BlackBerry KEYone will be getting Android Oreo, Google's latest mobile operating system version which was unveiled just recently, a silver lining for bad news regarding the BlackBerry Priv.

Thurber revealed during the podcast that the BlackBerry Priv will not be getting the Android Nougat update. Although, the BlackBerry Priv did get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update past year, company's experienced how hard a task it is to roll out update. However, Thurber did not shed light on the Nougat update for the DTEK smartphones and said it is most unlikely that phones will see a Nougat update. This of course has not bee confirmed so it could possibly change. The phone was launched at Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and runs the Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor paired with 3 GB RAM. Last year, Blackberry remained silent in regards to Android Nougat update for the Priv. It is also to be noted that the future build TCL devices, including the current BlackBerry KeyOne, will all be eligible for Android 8.0 Oreo update.

Priv users will likely be disappointed with this announcement, mainly because the handset received only one major OS upgrade since its launch.

The Priv was debuted as a hybrid model by BlackBerry, with a curved-edge display and a physical slide-out keyboard. It features a 18MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and OIS. It has a 2-megapixel front camera. It's on board storage stands at 32GB which can be expanded up to 200GB using a microSD card. Later, in April 2016, it went Android 6 Marshmallow, but this distribution is also not as relevant as at the time.

This unannounced device is expected to arrive as the so-called BlackBerry Krypton.
