Google meltdown reported in parts of world”

Gmail, YouTube, Drive, Google Maps and search aren't working in a number of countries all over the world.

The technical problems, which left many users scrambling to access important services, started coming into play as millions of people started preparing to tune into the webcast of Apple's 10th anniversary iPhone launch event. The complaints have been reported from United Kingdom, France and some areas of North America.

According to DownDetector, a website that monitors the activity of internet services, there has been a steep increase of down reporting around 8 pm IST.

Outage Report, meanwhile, describes Google and Google Drive's issues as "extreme", Maps and YouTube's as "high" and Gmail's as "medium". Just last week, the service was down for some users in Brazil and other places for about one hour. "Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better". We will provide more information shortly.
