In the interactive session with diplomats at a breakfast meeting organised by a thinktank, the first by the top Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader, Bhagwat also said that the Sangh does not support trolling on the internet and works on the basis of "no discrimination and oneness of the nation". He also maintained that the RSS does not interfere in BJP's affairs adding that the Sangh is not run by BJP and BJP is not run by the Sangh.

The breakfast meet was organised by BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav's India Foundation, and comes amid attacks on the RSS and its affiliates after journalist Gauri Lankesh, a frequent critic of right-wing ideology, was shot dead in Bengaluru last week. The RSS chief, who spoke on the activities of the organisation, spoke at some length on "Hinduness", which he said accepted everyone, irrespective of what the person wore or ate. The Sarsanghchalak explained to them how it is not a political but a social organisation, ' said an invitee who attended the meeting. The BJP does not run the Sangh.

The RSS chief was also quoted as saying that the Sangh Parivar does not believe in discrimination.

"The Sangh does not run the BJP". "As Swayamsevaks, we consult and exchange notes, but are independent in functioning", he said. Bhagwat replied that RSS was in the work of "man-making", and runs 1.7 lakh service projects in health, education, rural development. "This is the reason why we do not consider converting people into Hindus, as they already are", said Bhagwat.Ramdev gifted the RSS chief a mace on his birthday and appealed to him to keep the flame of Hinduism burning.Earlier in the day, Bhagwat had visited the Suratgiri Ashram for a Ganga Arti , As Reported By Nagpur Today.
