Transgender DJ Fatally Shot Outside Club in SF's Tenderloin”

"San Francisco lost one [of] the best and will never be the same".

San Francisco DJ, artist and activist Bubbles was killed this weekend after being shot outside a Tenderloin strip club in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Torres specifically focussed on trans rights and often performed drag.

Police haven't released any suspect description or the motive behind Torres' death.

They say that the shooter approached Torres and they began arguing before he was shot.

John Silverman said of the activist: "He would always wear drag".

"He brought a lot of energy to the neighborhood".

Bubbles was a beloved community figure who, according to their lawyer, was a transgender activist.

Anthony Torres aka Bubbles, 30, was a positive force in the city's Tenderloin district.

When police arrived on the scene, Torres was suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

"This is a disgrace, it's a hate crime, and it will not stand", Reilly said.A makeshift memorial for Torres emerged Sunday at the intersection where the shooting occurred, and a vigil was held later in the evening.

He created the Bubbles persona about 20 years ago.

"In San Francisco you can get away with doing this", the Arizona native said.

"Bubbles is like a toy, in a way". "He started out looking for love, settled for fame".
