Boston Marathon Bombing Film To Premiere At Hospital That Treated Victims

Boston Marathon Bombing Film To Premiere At Hospital That Treated Victims”

On Tuesday night, the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston hosted the first USA showing of the film "Stronger", which tells the story of Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman.

Bauman, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, attended the marathon to support his then-girlfriend Erin Hurley, played by Tatiana Maslany.

Hollywood returned to Boston Tuesday for the local premiere of what could be one of the most emotional movies in years. He said the hospital has been an important part of Bauman's journey to recovery.

"From the moment I met Jeff, I was intimidated, I was nervous". He was one of 32 bombing survivors treated at the hospital, and that's why the filmmakers behind "Stronger" chose to showcase it there first.

The movie takes place before, during and after the bombing at the 2013 Boston Marathon, which took the life of a young boy and injured several others. "Stronger" will also showcase the resilience of both Bauman and the city of Boston. "I still feel the responsibility, not only to Jeff, not only to everybody who suffered that day in particular, but the city and how it affected the city", he added.

Jake Gyllenhaal looked dapper in a dark suit and green tie on the red carpet at Roy Thomson Hall last night (Sept. 8, 2017) for the world premiere of his new movie, Stronger.
