Daniel Dae Kim may replace Ed Skrein in 'Hellboy' movie reboot

Daniel Dae Kim may replace Ed Skrein in 'Hellboy' movie reboot”

On August 28, Skrein released a statement on Twitter stating he was unaware of the character's cultural heritage and announced he was backing out of the role. Lionsgate has been keen to replace Skrein after he left the production. Scarlett Johansson's casting as a Japanese human-cyborg in "Ghost in the Shell" caused an uproar earlier this year, as did Tilda Swinton's role as the Ancient One in "Doctor Strange" - a character depicted as an Asian male in the comic source material. After this, he backed out from taking the role and a new potential replacement has been found just what the latest reports claimed.

Daniel Dae Kim, who starred on ABC's hit show Lost and more recently on the CBS show Hawaii Five-O, is in talks to join the movie in the role, according to The Hollywood Reporter and other media reports.

The network and producers of "Hawaii Five-0" suffered the loss of Daniel Dae Kim from the cast, after they were unable to treat him as an equal of the series' protagonist. There is a possibility that the actor accepts the role once everything will already be settled after the controversy.

As reported by Gamespot, the "Hellboy" reboot producers released a statement stating that they never meant to be insensitive to authenticity and ethnicity.

The R-rated "Hellboy" reboot now has David Harbour playing as the titular red-skinned demon, while "Resident Evil" franchise lead Milla Jovovich cast as the main antagonist known as the "Blood Queen".

Variety reports that he is now in talks with the producers of the "Hellboy" reboot, which will have David Harbour take on the role of the film's hero. Even if the film was caught in a "whitewashing" issue, the management assured that they will significantly focus on the story or the plot.
