Fewer South Georgia residents without power Wednesday morning”

About 2,100 Coastal Electric and Georgia Power customers in South Bryan were without power as of 9 a.m.

Georgia Power crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore service to all impacted areas.

Customers are urged to avoid all downed power lines and remember that risky electrical currents can travel through standing water and wet soil.

Numerous locations are still without power statewide, according to the outage map. Monday evening, the statewide number of outages was 914,780.

A spokesman for Georgia EMCs released a similar statement. "As a result, restoration will span several more days despite the finest efforts of local crews and others from across the country".

The power outages from Tropical Storm Irma that peaked in Columbus early Monday afternoon have been significantly reduced by late morning Tuesday.
