Guard stabbed at Brisbane private school

Guard stabbed at Brisbane private school”

Queensland Police are hunting a suspect believed to be armed and risky, following a stabbing at a Brisbane elite girls' school early this morning.

The guard was approached by another man on the grounds of Somerville House on Graham Street at 5.25am and stabbed multiple times, police have confirmed. Police say he was also stabbed in the arms and while his injuries are significant, they are not life threatening.

Inspector Geary said it was not clear what the offender had been doing when the security guard spotted him or how the security guard managed to raise the alarm after he was attacked.

A security guard has reportedly been stabbed at an elite Queensland boarding school by an intruder.

"It's certainly likely that the offender has blood on them, and it's quite possible that the offender is still armed".

"He was stabbed on the grounds of the school".

Somerville said classes would run as normal on Wednesday but students would be kept away from the crime scene.

Parents continued to drop children to the school with little disruption but some admitted being shaken by the incident. I'd just like to know if they've found the person who attacked the security guard, ' one mother told 9 News.

The guard has been rushed to the PA Hospital in a stable condition, with several wounds to his upper body.

Somerville House spokeswoman Sarah Dreaver says the school will be open and counselling will be offered to any students who need it.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the security guard and his family at this time", she said.

It is largely an all-girls' school, however the early learning centre and the pre-prep program became co-educational in 2014.
