India, Pakistan trade heavy fire along LoC in Poonch”

Jammu: Pakistani troops on Wednesday violated the ceasefire twice by firing and shelling along the International Border (IB) in Jammu district and the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, prompting retaliation from the security forces.

"Pakistan violated ceasefire by resorting to firing at P-1and P-2 posts in Shahpur Sector of district Poonch", said a police official.

Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively to the provocation.

Apart from LoC, Pakitan resorted to ceasefire violation along the worldwide border in Pargwal sector also during the day.

They fired mortar shells along the IB, forcing the BSF to retaliate, resulting in exchange of fire, he said, adding that so far, there is no loss of life or injury to any one.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that India would ensure that Pakistan is forced to stop ceasefire violations, which amounted to 400 times since 2014.

On Monday afternoon, the Pakistan army had initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation in the Poonch sector along the LoC.

However, two civilians and two BSF personnel were injured in the evening during unprovoked firing in Degwar and Sawjjian sectors of Poonch district respectively.
