Mother of three in Central Park tree fall plans $200M lawsuit

Mother of three in Central Park tree fall plans $200M lawsuit”

A mother who was badly hurt trying to protect her kids from a falling tree in Central Park plans to file notice Wednesday of a $200 million lawsuit against the city, her lawyer said.

Her family was pinned to the ground, including a Goldman's 2-month old who was strapped to her.

The 39-year-old mom, who was struck by the massive tree while walking along West Drive near W. 62nd Street on August 15, also suffered a concussion, Merson said. Her attorney says she has to lay flat for two to three months, with her neck and back immobilized, in order for her neck fractures to heal.

"She's in an incredible amount of pain, and we're unsure if she's going to be able to walk the same again".

The woman, 39-year-old Monoky Goldman, plans to file a $200 million notice of claim against the city and the Central Park Conservancy, which said the tree was uprooted due to decay beneath the surrounding pavement, her attorney, Jordan Merson, told ABC's NY affiliate WABC on Tuesday. She saved them by taking the brunt of crashing tree.

"She has complete memory loss from the time of the accident", he said. "She can't pick up her baby, she can't breast-feed, she can't do her job".

Goldman was hospitalized for weeks with a fractured vertebra, along with other injuries, and her 2-year-old son is suffering from a brain hemorrhage and concussion, according to WABC.

"It was a tremendous hazard", Merson said.

Goldman was on maternity leave from her position as director of Social Media at Tory Burch.

Her attorneys believe the tree was diseased and decayed. "It's a small miracle that her children weren't even more injured".
