Schools in parts of Spokane in Washington state are on lockdown, with reports of injuries after shots were fired at Freeman High School.

A suspect has been taken into custody, according to The Spokesman-Review.

Pictures from the scene show ambulances and police swooping on the scene. "At least 4 shots", she said.

Several school districts in the Inland Northwest went into lockdown the shooting.

Baxter also said, "I saw someone carrying a gurney into the elementary school but I didn't know why".

A student at the school reported that she and her classmates had been evacuated from the high school. Officers are checking rooms for any threats, the Spokane Sheriff's Office said on Twitter.
