Qualcomm claims Android always beats the iPhone to new features

Qualcomm claims Android always beats the iPhone to new features”

"Qualcomm Technologies has enabled some notable world firsts on Android, and some remain Android exclusives to this day", reads the firm's post. The Note 8 is a stunning phone and Note lovers are sure to appreciate the S Pen functionality, dual camera performance, and more. However, the company has contributed a lot in various technologies that are used by the consumers on Android smartphones. However, the list has been revised to remove HTC One M7 from the dual camera technology. It is unusual to see Galaxy S8 here as it not features a single rear camera. It also points out that the model is to make its inventions "available as broadly as possible" in the industry with the licensing program.

The company lists plenty of manufacturers that it has worked closely. China-based Oppo and Vivo were new entrants to the market only a few years ago, but now have become two of the top five smartphone companies in the world.

We know what Qualcomm is trying to do - it's making sure people know that some of the technology which will most likely be highlighted on the iPhone X tomorrow already came out on Android phones.

Just hours before the Cupertino, California, giant's event, in which the company is expected to debut three new iPhones as well as other hardware, the chip manufacturer published a blog post in which it praises its own accomplishments and those of its Android partner manufacturers. Features such as bezel-less displays and iris scanning are already becoming standard in the Android world but many others in the list have even been in the iPhones for quite some time. The chip maker says that the Galaxy S8 is the first device enabled with Gigabit LTE connectivity.

Though Qualcomm's post doesn't mention Apple by name, the company suggests it can take credit for some the features in the iPhone. Bluetooth 5 first appeared on the Galaxy S8 and Sony's Xperia XZ Premium, but it's attributed to the HTC U11.

Xiaomi's Mi Mix is rightly credited as the smartphone that ushered in the era of barely-there bezels that has continued with the Galaxy S8 / Note 8 and LG G6 / V30. Qualcomm has also tested under-display fingerprint scanner and depth sensing through structured light on the company's reference design handset.
