Ready to reconcile with Fatah with no conditions: HAMAS”

Meanwhile, Gaza-based Hamas lawmaker Mushir el-Masri said in a statement that Hamas has accepted reconciliation pact "for the sake of the highest Palestinian national interests".

He stressed however that there would be no meetings or dialogue with the Hamas delegation, now in Cairo, unless the latter clearly declares the dissolution of the administrative committee it had established to run Gaza affairs and enables the Palestinian conciliation government to carry out its duties in the Gaza Strip without obstructions.

Hamas says it is ready to discuss reconciliation with the rival government of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas without preconditions.

The official al-Ahram daily quoted a source close to the Hamas movement as saying that a representative of the group would arrive in Cairo Thursday to inform Egypt about Hamas' decision.

The Hamas delegation declared the movement's readiness to dissolve the administrative committee immediately and enable the national reconciliation government to carry out its tasks and conduct the elections.

Abbas cut electricity in Gaza and slashed the salaries of tens of thousands of public servants in a bid to compel Hamas to dissolve a contentious committee it formed to run the territory in defiance of Abbas' government.

Haniyeh, and al-Senwar, whose trip to Cairo was their first time away from Gaza since their election, are expected to brief Arab and Muslim leaders in countries including Qatar and Turkey.

In a written press release, he welcomed the "ongoing efforts on the part of Egypt to end the Palestinian division and to execute the reconciliation agreement, signed by all the Palestinian factions in May 2011, under the auspices of Egypt".

PA Vice President Mahmoud Al-Aloul, who is known as Abu Jihad, explained to The Media Line that until now there are suggestions and understandings between Hamas and the Egyptian government on ending the Palestinian bifurcation, seen by many as the most significant obstacle to preparing Palestinians for statehood, but "there is no official agreement between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas".

The Fatah leader expressed his hopes that "Hamas should commit to what it signs and announces and executes, so that we can delete the black era of division from the Palestinian history".

Hamas announced it will keep working as long as the (Palestinian) division is still there, and that it will end its work once the unity government starts doing its duties in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas and Fatah have fought over political control of the Palestinian territories since the former took over the Gaza Strip in 2007. However, all efforts have failed so far.
