Revolutionary movement of United Kingdom govt start confiscating underworld don Dawood Ibrahim property”

A major chunk of the fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's assets worth a whopping Rs 43,000 crore (6.7 billion U.S. dollar) have allegedly been seized by the United Kingdom government, according to India Today report.

The UK Treasury department's Consolidated List of Financial Sanctions Targets' updated list includes Dawood's properties now.

The sanction document reportedly lists three recorded addresses for Ibrahim in Pakistan including one sprawling property called The White House near the Saudi mosque in the seaside suburb of Clifton in Karachi Pakistan, according to The Mirror's reports.

UK-based daily Birmingham Mail reported on Wednesday that the seized properties include a hotel he owns in Warwickshire and other residential properties across the Midlands that had been on tha radar of Indian probe agencies. In 2015, Forbes estimated Dawood Ibrahim's net asset at US$ 6.7 billion. Dawood is the second richest criminal ever after Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

The UK released an updated list of financial sanctions earlier this month and Dawood was the only "Indian national" on the list. However, British authorities have now frozen properties in London belonging to the fugitive.

- The fourth address on record until a year ago: House no.29, Margalla Road, F 6/2 Street no.22, Karachi, Pakistan is no longer part of the records.

He was implicated in the 1993 serial bomb blasts in the city and remains a priority wanted criminal for Indian authorities. He fled the country post the bombings and is understood to be hiding in Pakistan. "Dawood Ibrahim is in Pakistan".

Pakistan has repeatedly denied his presence in the country.

In August, the then-union home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi had said that Dawood is in Pakistan and Islamabad has been creating hurdles in getting him back to India to face the law.
