Rocket League's Autumn Update Rolls Around On September 28th, Adds Farmstead Arena”

Independent video game developer and publisher, Psyonix, announced today the Autumn Update launching on September 28.

As to why these two features are only being tested on the PC version, the developer elaborated by saying, "it's because Steam allows us to make changes and collect performance feedback more rapidly than any other platform".

In addition to these updates players will be happy to learn that arenas, such as Starbase Arc, are being standardized to allow for a more uniform competitive and casual experience.

On Psyonix's blog, the developer talks about their intention to launch a beta for a Tournament Mode by the end of 2017, an idea dating back to the game's launch in 2015.

Rocket League's Autumn Update also kicks off Season 6.

This update will also introduce LAN support on PC, though no other platforms are mentioned. First, is a brand new "Party" System that PC players can help test during beta periods after the update goes live. According to the studio, this is the "first step in enabling the possibility of supporting cross-platform parties", and it will replace the current party systems in place that use Steam, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network. Keep in mind that the new Psynet party system and Tournaments are not included in the Autumn Update, with their testing phases beginning later this year. "You'll still use the "Create Party" button as you normally would, but instead of seeing a Party invite in Steam, you'll see new in-game notifications alerting you to a Party invite", Psyonix said.

"Once your account is flagged for the new Party system, your game will automatically sync with your Steam Friends List information and allow you to create a party via PsyNet". We'll have more information about the new Party System once we're closer to launch.

Finally, Psyonix touched on the upcoming Events system, which will enable players to earn additional auto customizations through time-limited events.

Events can also reward players with a new item called a Decryptor, which can unlock any crate without a key.
