Salvation Army sends reinforcements to coast for Harvey recovery”

This advice is coming from Major Sherma Evelyn with the Barbados Division of the Salvation Army during an interview with Loop News. They're not doing some things that might be reckless and get hurt. 11 Cares is joining forces with The Salvation Army raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

"We are one Army with one mission - to serve others, meeting human needs in the name of Jesus Christ without discrimination", said Maj.

The Salvation Army continues to help with long-term Hurricane Harvey recovery as reinforcements and supplies head south.

"And just help them process what it's like to go through a calamity".

"There's still approximately 6,000 people without power and there's still approximately 16,000 that are being sheltered and fed", said Jane Gendron, executive director.

Evelyn said the Salvation Army has built up a reputation for transparency over the years and this has been beneficial in getting the public to give generously with local and regional efforts.

"We have a team here of about 21 volunteers that are certified to handle the canteen".

"My stomping grounds, they were underwater", Zapata said.

McNeil says he will spend 14 days helping out in Florida.

Caldwell said volunteers are prepared to stay for the long haul.
