Top Bookmakers Name Odds-On Favourites for 2017-2018 NBA Championship Success”

There's less than two months to go before the start of the 2017 - 2018 NBA season, and already top basketball betting sites are naming their odds-on favourites to walk away with the sport's most coveted prize.

At the end of last season, it was Oakland, California's Golden State Warriors who got the better of the Cleveland Cavaliers in a exciting 4-1 victory. As a result, the Warriors won the championship for a fifth time, taking back the title that they last won as recently as 2015.

Yet whilst the Warriors' celebrated victory might make them the most obvious choice for success in the upcoming season, they aren't the only side that top sporting bookmakers are predicting will do well once the new season gets underway on Friday night, October 20th.

Whether you're looking to bet on basketball's biggest games this season, or simply want to know if you're team are being tipped for success, here's a look at who the bookmakers have declared their favourites for the 2017 - 2018 NBA season.

Cleveland Cavaliers

They may have fallen at the final hurdle in last year's campaign, but despite losing out to the Warriors, you may well find that your favourite basketball betting site actually has the Cavs as their odds-on favourite.

The two teams have met in the final for three consecutive years, with the Cavs picking up the title just once, in 2016.

Still, the side have brought in some notable personnel during the off-season, and when you combine that with their run of form last year, their backing by leading bookmakers certainly makes sense.

Golden State Warriors

It would be strange, if not scandalous, if sports betting specialists didn't give the Warriors good odds of capturing their sixth championship in the upcoming season.

Yes, their arch-rivals the Cleveland Cavaliers may be tipped for the big one this year, but if the experts are correct, will be looking at our fourth consecutive Cavs vs. Warriors final come 2018.

Boston Celtics

It's been nine long years since the Boston Celtics last won the NBA Championship, triumphing over coach Phil Jackson's Los Angeles Lakers side by four games to two.

Don't be surprised, however, if you see the Celtics making another appearance in the final next year.

The team have been tipped for success thanks to their headline-making trade during the off-season.

In exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the Brooklyn Nets’ unprotected 2018 first-round draft pick, the Celtics welcomed Cavs star Kyrie Irving.

It was a move that not only sent shockwaves throughout the basketball world, but also immediately made the Celtics -previously an outside bet at best- a team to keep a serious eye on in the new season.

Houston Rockets

Last but by no means least, if you're considering betting on a basketball team who aren't the most obvious choice for a championship win, look no further than Texas, and head coach Mike D'Antoni's Houston Rockets.

True, the Rockets haven't won the NBA Championship in over 20 years -their only wins came in 1994 and 1995- but the squad, much like the Celtics, have seen their odds boosted by a big offseason move.

Back in June, the side acquired All-Star point guard Chris Paul from the Los Angeles Clippers, a move which sent Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker over to LA.

Paul is expected to team up with Rockets megastar James Harden, making a formidable double-act that should seriously improve the Rockets chances of a place in the finals this season.

Whichever team you put your money behind this year, one thing is for sure:

With some major moves taking place throughout the offseason, the 2017 - 2018 NBA Championship may be one of the most interesting, and unpredictable, seasons in recent memory.
