UC announces support of California suing Trump administration over DACA”

DACA is one program that has helped immigrant students to gain and maintain such access. The White House said Trump will announce his decision Tuesday. So at Castleton we offer the warm embrace of a loving family. For us, functionally, today is the same as yesterday.

If Congress were not to act and DACA began to expire, about 300,000 people could lose their status in 2018, and more than 320,000 would lose their status from January to August 2019.

California sued the Trump administration Monday over its decision to end a program that gives protection from deportation to young immigrants brought to the United States illegally as children or by parents who overstayed visas.

It covers almost 800,000 people.

John Keller, executive director of the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, said it's a welcome relief to know that the state is sticking up for the DACA recipients.

"We will continue to foster a safe, welcoming learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds seeking to expand their opportunities through education", the Texas A&M University System, which includes West Texas A&M University, said in a statement.

UC has around 4,000 students who are undocumented, most of whom used DACA to their advantage.

Lopez says that even though he's married to a USA citizen, he does not have a path to citizenship, because he was brought to the US illegally as a teenager.

Salazar said he had held out hope that he could become a USA citizen.

Sessions said President Barrack Obama's creation of the program without Congressional approval was "an unconstitutional exercise of authority".

That lawsuit also alleges that Trump's decision, which would leave DACA recipients unable to work legally, will hurt businesses and state colleges and universities.

"This is where I grew up; I have nowhere to go", said Lopez. "In my heart, I'm American".

Napolitano said she hopes that Congress will pass a permanenent solution on immigration. "We're seeking judicial relief but we're also seeking Congressional action". We evaluate applications from undocumented prospective students under our need-blind admissions policy with a commitment to meet 100 percent of demonstrated financial need regardless of country of citizenship or immigration status.

The administration did not cancel all of the permits immediately, but allowed a six-month window for congressional action.
