Woman drives 20 miles with coyote stuck in vehicle

Woman drives 20 miles with coyote stuck in vehicle”

An Airdrie woman who thought she had struck and killed a coyote on her way to work was surprised to find the animal peering back at her from the grille of the vehicle.

In a Facebook post that has gone viral, Georgie Knox explains that she was going to work early in the morning when she saw a coyote dart in front of her vehicle. "I heard a crunch", she writes in a September 9 Facebook post, and because she thought the coyote hadn't survived, she continued on her way.

She assumed that it had died instantly, and knew her vehicle was still working fine so she continued on.

"When I got out to look, this poor little guy was looking up and blinking at me", Knox said on her Facebook page.

She notified provincial wildlife officials who managed to rescue the coyote.

Ms Knox had driven all the way "at highway speeds" from Airdrie to Calgary, about 35km (21 miles).

No word on what the coyote did when he got home, but our guess is that he slammed a six-pack of Pabst and smoked every last cigarette that he could find.

Biologists gave the coyote a clean bill of health and returned it back into the wild. "Clearly mother nature has other plans for this special little guy!" she wrote about the coyote's release.
