A 23-year-old woman was raped by a taxi driver, who, on the pretext of dropping the woman to ISBT from New Delhi Railway Station, took her to a secluded spot near Red Fort, on Monday night. She was on her way to Ludhiana as she failed to search for a job in Delhi.

The woman alleged that Kumar later dropped her at the Old Delhi railway station and fled. It was around 2 am that she found a man aged around 30 years, who introduced himself as a taxi driver and joined her in the waiting room.

According to the Newspaper, The train was scheduled to leave at 4.30 am on September 12.

After a while, the cab driver misguided the woman by saying that the train had been cancelled. She told police that she hails from Jharkhand and came to NCR last week to visit her brother in Noida.

However, when the woman rejected his offer, Chunnu gave her his mobile number and left.

After raping her, he dropped her off at Old Delhi railway station.

She further added in the complaint that the accused stop the taxi at a secluded place near the Red Fort and raped her inside the vehicle. When she tried to scream, he allegedly threatened her of gangrape with his associates.

Upon hearing her story, cops tracked and interrogated the driver and later arrested him.

Based on the information, police were able to nab the perpetrator from his house in Shastri Park. "He was previously arrested in a molestation case; we are trying to get more details", the officer added. The victim's statements have been recorded and a medical examination confirmed rape, police said.
