Amazon To Build Fulfillment Facility In Shelby Township, Hire 1000”

Since 2016, Amazon has announced multiple facilities in MI including three fulfilment centres and one sortation centre in Livonia, Romulus, Brownstown and the Charter Township of Shelby, as well as a corporate office in Detroit. The building is set to open in 2018. These operations will be managed by approximately 1,000 associates, according to Amazon.

Amazon.com will be creating 1,000 new, full-time jobs when it opens a new fulfillment center in Shelby Township next year, the company announced Thursday. The facility will use technology from A mazon Robotics division to pick, pack, and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics and toys.

The new jobs will bring Amazon's workforce in MI to more 3,500, including employees at other fulfillment centers in the Detroit area and a corporate office in Detroit.

A third Amazon distribution center is coming to metro Detroit, this time in northern Macomb County.

Amazon's network of U.S. fufilment centres is continuing to grow apace, with a new facility set to open in MI next year.

Earlier this month, the company announce plans to open a second headquarters in North America, taking bids from cities.

The HQ2 will be a full equal to the Seattle headquarters, which features almost three dozen buildings and 24 restaurants and cafes spread otu over 8.1 million-square-feet of space.
