CDOT Announces Colorado As Winner For Hyperloop Route Concept”

Hyperloop One said it will "commit meaningful business and engineering resources and work closely with each of the winning teams/routes to determine their commercial viability".

Hyperloop One just announced 10 major finalists from its global competition to identify the best potential Hyperloop routes, but it's already entering into a formal public-private partnership agreement with one of those candidates.

A route that would run from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Pueblo, Colorado with another leg extending to Vail was chosen as one of the top 10 proposals worldwide by Hyperloop One. "The Hyperloop technology could directly align with our goals of improving mobility and safety in Colorado, and we have been encouraged by the continued progress the technology is taking".

The Hyperloop One will carry passengers and cargo in a pod that travels via a low-pressure tube.

The winning route would make several stops between Pueblo and Cheyenne, and even head out west to Vail. Once it picks up enough speed, the pod lifts above the track with magnetic levitation, allowing it to glide at airline speeds thanks to its ultra-low aerodynamic drag.

The route would reduce the hour-long travel time between them to six minutes, and in the process of construction would lead to the creation of 2,500 jobs in the region.

The challenge of finding routes involved more than 100 countries.

"The Hyperloop One Global Challenge started as a call to action for innovators, engineers, trailblazers and dreamers around the world who shared our vision of creating a new mode of transportation", said Shervin Pishevar, co-founder and executive chairman of Hyperloop One.

According to the company, the 10 winning routes were chosen based on criteria including well-defined routes and implementation strategies, key stakeholder involvement from both public and private sectors, compelling business cases, as well as innovative and creative application ideas for implementing a hyperloop.

Routes were also selected in India, Great Britain, Canada and Mexico. "Our successful test this summer made Hyperloop a reality, and now we're ready to bring our Hyperloop system to the world". "Studies like this bring us closer to our goal of implementing three full-scale systems operating by 2021".

"A Hyperloop link between Miami and Orlando would unite the state's tourism and economic centers, as well as ease the freight movement from the Port of Miami to the rest of the state".
