Check out the first look at David Harbour in costume as Hellboy

Check out the first look at David Harbour in costume as Hellboy”

Dark and hard times lie ahead for our cigar-chomping protagonist, then, but judging by today's first look, we pity any fool that dares stand in Hellboy's path - human or otherwise.

To see just how much the two compare, check out a photo of both Harbour and Perlman as their respective Hellboy's below.

It's been four months since Hellboy creator Mike Mignola announced that his demonic creation would be getting a cinematic reboot, directed by Neil Marshall and starring Stranger Things standout David Harbour.

For fans, this has been pretty controversial. Aside from some casting, news for the movie has been relatively quiet (aside from a white washing controversy that ended surprisingly well). However, we just got a big piece of news that begins to inspire hope for this movie.

Here, from Mignola's official Twitter page, is your first look at Harbour in full makeup and costume as Hellboy.

There are a few differences to Ron Perlman's take on the character, including what looks like larger horn-stubs on Hellboy's head, and a longer hairstyle.

Hellboy is set to release sometime in 2018.
