IPhone 8 launch on Sept 29

IPhone 8 launch on Sept 29”

The request, in a letter sent to Apple chief executive Tim Cook, echoes concerns that privacy advocates raised following the announcement of the new system on Tuesday.

The much-hyped event on Tuesday unveiled three new phones, an advanced watch that can take calls and a new Apple TV, but die-hard fans will not be able to get their hands on the iPhone X until November 3 - much later than iPhone 8's shipping date of september 22.

For more details, including information on Apple Watch and Apple TV, click the video below and head to our news partners at ABC13.com for the full story. The event was broadcast live at Apple's official website which users can access via any iOS device, Mac laptop/desktop (using Safari) or the Edge browser in Windows. After a litany of iPhones all bearing incremental numbers, Apple has chose to skip the iPhone 9 and reveal the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X (pronounced "iPhone ten") at the same time.

The high price of the iPhone X may not affect sales in the United States, where telecom carriers subsidize phone ownership, but it might dent sales in China and India. That surprise wasn't the spec, design or features of the iPhone X - that has been leaked consistently throughout the previous year - but it was the way Cook pronounced its name.

After months of speculation, on September 12, Apple finally gave us the technology we've been waiting on for years: facial recognition.

It looks like Apple's new iPhones are about to blow away the competition, as usual.

The handset's so-called "Super Retina" OLED display measures in at 5.8 and features a 2436×1125 resolution, making it the highest resolution iPhone to date. The iPhone X will last two hours longer than the iPhone 7.

If the iPhone X really is the future, then the next decade for Apple will be spent finding ways to incorporate the latest cutting-edge technology to existing products, rather than working backwards from the customer experience to create something valuable.

The camera is also upgraded on the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X but the standard iPhone 8 will have a regular camera, similar to those of its predecessors. It features a design that's completely different from the company's previous generation iPhones, featuring a screen that wraps all the way over the front of the smartphone, an all-new display technology, Face ID and more. Both phones are powered by the A11 Bionic chip, which is a six-core processor with four efficiency cores.

Those phones, Apple said, will shoot pictures with better colors and less distortion, particularly in low-light settings. The iPhone 8 Plus continues to feature a rear dual-camera system, while the iPhone 8 has a single rear camera.
